Who I am
I’m a French artist living in Aix-en-Provence, France. I’ve been painting and creating pieces of art for the past 10 years. I was blessed to grow up travelling around Asia, Africa, and Europe which has enriched my creativity beyond measure. My passion is allowing others to enjoy the beauty that life surrounds us with.
Working with me
I love creating commissioned pieces. I’m bilingual in French and English. What are your dreams? How do you want it to make you feel? What are colors that make you feel good? Do you like textures? It’s a fun part of the creative process to see what will come out of listening to someone else’s desire and how I can be a channel for their dreams. The results are always one of a kind and beautiful!
My Style
My style is ephemeral and can change depending on my mood. Generally, I prefer abstract conceptions that allow any viewer to project their dreams and vision onto a piece of art. I want my creativity to evoke pleasure and joy when viewing and I am always keeping in mind what brings me inner peace and joy when creating a new piece.
BIOGRAPHY
Joy Caroni lives and works in Aix-en-Provence, France — the sunny escape and artistic muse of many great masters. You can find her breathing in the inspiration laid within the cobblestone streets of the old town and dreaming up big ideas in between buckets of paint in her studio.
Joy was born to a French father and Filipino mother in Bangkok, Thailand. She studied abroad throughout Southeast Asia and Africa, making her a very multifaceted individual.
Being one of nine siblings, Joy discovered how to stand out at an early age. Her environment encouraged collaborative and autonomous creativity simultaneously. Joy was always interested in the art world, and at five years old, she decided that one day she would become a full-time artist. Her grandmother saw a spark within this young bubbly girl and encouraged her ambition by sending Joy her first oil painting kit.
Carrying a heart full of passion, Joy has always had the desire to discover different ways of life and cultures. As a result, she spent her twenties exploring different occupations: working for a nonprofit organization in South Africa, teaching English in Reunion Island, and becoming a beautician in France. She saw colorful landscapes and even more colorful personalities. Meanwhile, she continued to produce art, testing all mediums such as pastels, watercolor, oil paints, acrylic paints, pencils, and charcoal. She taught herself how to create portraits, landscapes, pop art, illustrations, scrapbooking, and crafting.
Growing up in a whirlwind of cultures and life changes, with every country she moved to, Joy kept pursuing her biggest ongoing passion in life: creating art. Now, she strives for her life to be the work of art, and for the canvas to be the means of expression. She has brought her art fully to the center of the limelight, where each work shines and connects with life and all that it brings forth.
What does Joy’s work mean? What do her artworks try to portray? Joy believes that words are not the only way to express one’s feelings. The small details in life, the unforgettable moments, the big milestones that we celebrate, and the simple joys are all portrayed through the instinctive touch of her art.
